Study of Outflows from Supermassive Black Holes

چکیده
Our recent Chandra, XMM-Newton and Suzaku observations of several high redshift quasars have revealed the presence of massive outflows of highly ionized, high-metallicity material driven from near the black hole (a few gravitational radii, rg) with velocities of up to 0.7c (see Figure 1; Chartas et al. 2002, ApJ, 579, 169; Chartas et al. 2003 ApJ, 595, 85; Chartas et al. 2007, AJ, 133, 1849; Saez et al. 2008 submitted to ApJ). The mass outflow rate in APM 08279+5255 (Ṁ ∼ 1–10 M⊙ yr ) is found to be comparable to its accretion rate and the fraction of bolometric energy released in the form of kinetic energy is ǫK ∼ 0.02–0.12.

Jets from Black Hole Binaries and Galactic Nuclei
Relativistic outflows are a common phenomenon in accreting black holes. Despite the enormous differences in scale, stellar-mass black holes in binaries and supermassive black holes in Galactic Nuclei produce jets with analogous properties. In both are observed two types of relativistic outflows: 1) steady compact jets with flat-spectrum, and 2) sporadic extended jets with steep-spectrum and app...

Relativistic outflows are common in accreting and forming black holes. Despite the enormous differences in scale, stellar-mass black holes in X-ray binaries and supermassive black holes in Galactic Nuclei produce jets with analogous properties. In both are observed two types of relativistic outflows: 1) quasi-steady compact jets with flat-spectrum, and 2) episodic large-scale ejections with ste...

Relativistic outflows are a common phenomenon in accreting black holes. Despite the enormous differences in scale, stellar-mass black holes in X-ray binaries and collapsars, and super-massive black holes at the dynamic centre of galaxies are sources of jets with analogous physical properties. Synergism between the research on microquasars, gamma-ray bursts, and Active Galactic Nuclei should hel...
متن کاملSupermassive Stars: Fact or Fiction?
Supermassive black holes are now realized to exist in the centers of most galaxies. The recent discoveries of luminous quasars at redshifts higher than 6 require that these black holes were assembled already when the Universe was less than a billion years old. They might originate from the collapse of supermassive stars, a scenario which could ensure a sufficiently rapid formation. Supermassive...
متن کاملAGN Feedback Mechanisms
Accreting black holes can release enormous amounts of energy to their surroundings, in various forms. Such feedback may profoundly influence a black hole’s environment. After briefly reviewing the possible types of feedback, I focus on the injection of kinetic energy through jets and powerful winds. The effects of these outflows may be especially apparent in the heating of the X-ray–emitting at...
